GPR COBRA PLUG-IN

Airborne ground-penetrating radar

Orion 160S plus an SE-150 antenna: a 2,400-metre survey line per flight, without touching the ground.

Ground-penetrating radar sees beneath the surface. Putting it on a flying platform transforms the survey: swamp, deep snow and inaccessible terrain no longer stop a vehicle, and the complex flies the profile at constant speed.

The complex is built around the COBRA Plug-in SE-150 antenna: a 20–280 MHz band, 124 MHz centre frequency and 3.5 kg of weight. At 2 m/s, one flight yields a survey line of up to 2,400 metres.

Applications

  • Engineering and geological surveys
  • Locating buried utilities
  • Road pavement and bridge inspection
  • Archaeological prospecting
  • Ice and soil thickness measurement
